I continue to work on the oil painting of an ocean wave as it crashes on the rocks along the Rhode Island coastline. The print depicts three boats moving through a storm-tossed sea, with a large wave forming a spiral in the centre and Mount Fuji visible in the background. The ocean has constant movement whether it is crashing waves, rolling breakers or a flat calm. n this painting tutorial I show you step by step how you can paint a seascape full of drama, beauty and atmosphere. I focus my attention on adding the final details to the rocks in the foreground, painting the reflected light in the shadow areas using the same colours I used in my other rocks to create the illusion of wet rocks. As this is my lightest tone in the whole painting, it pops when juxtaposed against anything behind that is darker. To complete this painting I add sparkles and highlights to the white water and foam bursts in the sea by using pure titanium white straight from the tube.
